Mike&Ollie (flatbread wraps with foraged food)

Pic credit: mikeandollie.co.uk

What: Whatever has been found, foraged or fought for that week. Homemade flatbread always encases a base of hummus, red cabbage, seasonal leaves, yoghurt and toasted seeds then whatever else they have in store from pan-fried mackerel or pork belly to chargrilled purple sprouting broccoli.

The vibe: Cool. Our Russell Brand lookalike Mike arrives in a woolly hat with his entire stall (crates, poles, etc.) attached to the front of his bike cart, sets up some jars, pots and pans and sets about unwrapping the little packets of goodies that he’s come upon that week which then travel with him from his home to the market.

The story: Mike was a chef for nine months at Moro in Exmouth Market before deciding he needed more stimulation and took off to go it alone. He started his own business as a fishmonger but when that didn’t take off started up the stall, the story of which is all on their website documented by beautiful photographs of each new dish on the menu. “Square foot is not where the party’s at,” he says. NB: Ollie has now moved abroad but Mike decided to keep the stall name as people were so fond of it.

The tab: around £5.50 per flatbread bundle with filling

  2. We are looking for food stalls to take part in Streatham Festive on Streatham Common Sw16. The event takes place on Sat 13th of July and attracts around 7-8,000 visitors. We would like to have 10 food stalls. This years theme is Glamour days and we will have dance groups and performers as well as theatre and craft events. We are a local community festival and the cost of a pitch is only £75. You must be fully self contained as we cannot provide power and use diesel generators.

Please email if you are interested or call me on 07837 363 907.

    best wishes
    Anne-Marie McGregor
