New Brixton street food market: Sundowner, 23 Dec

As a Claphamite, I’m looking forward to Brixton’s Sundowner market held in St Matthew’s Church Gardens next Friday 23rd December. It’s their first ever and they’re already billing it “London’s Best Friday Night Street Market” – but with The Long Table in Dalston doing so well it could have some serious competition next year. Still, we can look forward to some great stuff.
From 5pm-10pm, new Brixton bar and club Electric Social will lay on a bar and live entertainment while confirmed stallholders currently include: Ms Cupcake and her vegan cupcakes, Tuckers’ exotic cooked meats, Casa Caterin’s paellas, dishes from The Caribbean Chef, cooked meat from Happy Herefords, Number 22 tapas, Giant Pan Tartiflette, Bosco & Bee selling wood-fired pizzas from their converted Piaggio ape van, Sylvia’s savoury pastries and jams and the Yummy Boutique (American retro sweets).
If you’re worried about it being the last evening of Christmas shopping, I’ve heard there are some craft stalls there too – so shop hard, eat loads and then go home for Christmas…
